Amazon.com Product Description
Ideal for fishing expeditions and family vacations, the Norcross Hawkeye F33P offers the latest in portable fish finder technology and is guaranteed to help you come up with better fish stories than ever before. Using an ultra wide, 45 degree sonar beam angle, this system delivers accurate depth, fish and bottom structure readings from 1.5 to 99.9 feet. Operationable down to zero degrees Fahrenheit, this unit includes a trollable, mountable, and floatable sonar sensor with 35 feet of cable and cable tie-strap.

The F33P is exceptionally easy to use; simply turn the power on, toss the sonar sensor from the shoreline, bridge, or boat, and in no time flat you'll receive instant depth, fish, weed, and contour readings. With its "SideScan" adapter, the F33P can also attach to a broomstick handle to scan under weeds, lily pads, ice, or docks. For added convenience, this system comes with mounting tabs for hull mounting of your portable fish finder to canoes, kayaks, and jon boats.

The F33P delivers reliable readings by using algorithmic programming. This reduces the number of false readings, while the unit's fish identifier, depth scale, and two-stage audible fish alarm ensure that you'll always know exactly what kind of fish you're closing in on. Designed to hold up under all kinds of conditions, the antenna is powered by four "AAA" batteries for 20 hours of continuous use, the backlit display prevents eye strain, and a special LCD protector eliminates condensation in the display. This portable fish finder features a palm-sized design that fits into your tackle box, gear bag, or pocket, making this an extremely versatile unit you'll rely on again and again.

5 out of 5 stars It Actually Works!   August 1, 2008

Unlike the Humminbird RF35, the Norcross Hawkeye can actually detect the fish!

I've used both, the Humminbird works fine as a depth finder, but has difficulty detecting fish. The Hawkeye, on the other hand, sees them.

Case in point, on a recent trip to Crane Prairie Reservoir (Oregon) we were looking for bass. According to the Hawkeye there weren't any fish when we checked their usual holding spots. When we finally moved over to the channel the Hawkeye started detecting fish (and we caught a few). Apparently the heat made the fish move to the deeper parts of the lake. Same thing happened on Paulina and Big Lava lakes. Without the Hawkeye we probably wouldn't have caught a thing!

Also, the Hawkeye uses plain old AAA batteries, unlike the Humminbird which uses an expensive lithium-ion 2450CR watch battery. (The AAAs seem to last longer, too.)

5 out of 5 stars portable Kayak Canoe depth finder   August 6, 2008

I don't fish, I Kayak. Bought it for a portable depth finder in the rivers and lakes I frequent. Works perfect for that and tells the bottom terrain.
Easy set up and directions. It is portable and water proof. I stick it on the kayak with velcro.

5 out of 5 stars Hand held fish finder   September 1, 2009

I have a Hobie Outback SUV kayak that I love to use to go fishing in. My son sent me the Hawkeye portable fishfinder as a fathers day present to use in my kayak. It has proven to be a permanent part of my fishing gear. It is lightweight, and very easy to use. It shows rocks, weeds, and of course fish. It even has an alarm that will go off should a school of fish pass under the sensor. I would highly recomend this product to other kayakers or canoers who love to fish...

So far we are enjoying the Norcross fishfinder. Actually we are using it at this time more for a depth finder because we have had little precipitation and are concerned about hitting stumps or dragging bottom. It is performing well.
